Abstract

Palazzo Farnese is considered one of the most imposing palaces in Rome; its construction was directed by the most important Italian Renaissance artists: Antonio da Sangallo (1514), Michelangelo (1549), and Giacomo Della Porta (1589). The palace - since 1936 venue of the French embassy to the Italian Republic - belonged to Farnese, one of the most influent and famous families in Rome in the Renaissance period. Looking up at the palace, it is possible to catch the frescoed ceilings painted by Annibale Carracci between 1597 and 1604.
