72nd anniversary of the Liberation of Rome. Early in the afternoon of June 4, 1944 the troops of the US 5th Army, led by General Mark W. Clark, entered in Rome through the Via Casilina. Among the curiosity, wonder and joy of the inhabitants, the soldiers marched along the road through the heart of the Tor Pignattara district. At 6 p.m. the soldiers arrived at Porta Maggiore. Rome was free! The walk intends to retrace the route that American soldiers did on June 4 of seventy two years ago, from the eastern outskirts of Rome to Piazza Venezia, retracing the story and the memory of those who greeted the Allied troops.
